In Senate, No Progress on Healthcare

In the Senate this week, the main debate was over healthcare reform. But it looks like the four day long debate was much ado about nothing. As Reuters reports, the bill has escaped any change whatsoever. The bill was authored by Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT).

The "Baucus bill," yet to receive any official number, has been made famous for being another ambiguous mark of the Senate Democrats' big idea. After a brief look over the bill, it does prove to be ambiguous: food labeling guidelines (p. 407) are a little outside healthcare reform, don't you think?

In other news from the Senate, S. 1699, a bill to extend emergency unemployment compensation is quickly gathering attention. It was authored by Sen. John Reed (D-RI). Ironically, it has been moving faster than the "Baucus bill" through the Senate!

SEAH Seen By 500!

As you may know, I like to keep informational posts like this to a minimum. But a special occasion deserves a special post. Here's the news: SendEmAllHome.com has passed 500 unique visitors! It happened this evening at about 6:30 pm. This news is encouraging to me as a first-time blogger, since the first post was on April 5th of this year - meaning we have been up and running for less than six months. I'd like to thank the guest posters and our readers.

I would like to ask you, our "founding" readers, if you will, to write a comment on this article, telling me what you think. (Update: if you're reading in a feed reader or in an email, click here to comment.) What news would you like to see covered more often? Do you like our posting style (medium-long with lots of references)? Thanks in advance for your responses. Give as many as you want.

I would also encourage you to spread the word about this blog to like-minded friends and relatives, especially those who enjoy reading their news online. Together, we can make an impact in upcoming elections!
